Stop the Removal of "Hassan" from the United States to Iran (November 23, 2007)

IRQO has received an urgent letter regarding an Iranian asylum seeker in the United State and we are asking you to support his case:

"On behalf of an Iranian client I am contacting you to request your organization's assistance in obtaining your support and/or an affidavit from your organization with regard to the treatment of homosexual men who are HIV positive in Iran. On behalf of our client, we are seeking to have stop the removal of our client from the United States to Iran and unfortunately he is currently detained pending departure plans. Unfortunately he has never had an opportunity to have his asylum claim heard by the asylum office or by an immigration judge in the U.S. as his former counsel(not really an attorney) never informed him of any of the hearing dates. Thus he was ordered removed in absentia in 1999. Two motions to have his case reopened have been denied only for procedural reasons. We are working to stop his removal and deportation to Iran and have requested deferred action based on his homosexuality and being HIV positive. He is however in imminent danger of being removed."
