Just to update you with Mehdi's situation
Mehdi's uncle sent us an update email about Mehdi on Feb 24, 08:
Mehdi has been arrested by the Holland police on the 12th of February 2008 and stayed in Venlo Holland Police station for two/three days, then they transferred him to Rotterdam Airport Detention Centre and he has been there ever since. His mobile phone has been taken away from him and the only way he can contact with outside world is thought the telephone which is control and taped and only a limited time he can talk, he also has to pay for it himself, the cost of calls outside the Netherlands is very expensive he told me he buys 10 Euro card and when he phones me only can talk about 4-5 minutes before his card rans out. Last I spoke to him was Wednesday 20the February around 4pm and he was going to go on hanger strike, very depress and extremely worried that the moment he comes o the UK they will send him back to Iran and that only means death. I spoke to his lawyer and there was a court case about his case on Thursday and when I called his lawyer office to find out the court outcome but he has gone away on a vacation until 28th February I spoke to a lady called Mirjam (pronounced Maryam) in Rotterdam she is one of the people whom helped Pegah and she has been very helpful and went to ROTTERDAM AIRPORT DETENTION CENTRE, left some money and a note for Mehdi to be in touch. I have not heard anything from Mehdi as yet but hopefully will hear from him tomorrow. Mirjam mentioned that Mehdi’s case was mentioned in the Netherlands Parliament on Thursday by one of their Member of Parliament. Mirjam also is in touch with the Rotterdam Town hall to make objection against Mehdi’s deportation to the UK. And Mirjam is also trying to get another lawyer to look at Mehdi’s case it might be to late but worth a try.
