Bibi Chic * Queer Middle-East, Shake Those Hips!
Our Fourth Local Fundraiser, Benefiting Six Queer International Charitable Queer Middle-Eastern, North African Organizations

SAN FRANCISCO -San Francisco's Premier Queer Middle-Eastern, North African Charitable Party will sweep into San Francisco again for our fourth major event since June Pride.  On Saturday, April 19th, an incredible lineup of artists of the music and performance variety will be tantalizing the hips and charitable-ness of womyn and men at Bibi Chic!

Bibi is an all local volunteer run fundraiser for the South West Asian, North African (Middle-Eastern) LGBTI community and friends, where friends and supporters are invited to celebrate and share our culture. Partygoers can expect to hear dance music influenced by rhythms and vocals representative of the entire diverse background of this group. Middle-Eastern, North African, Desi, Latin, Dance, Euro, and International beats, even retro Middle-Eastern classics will keep the crowd on their feet.

Bibi will donate 100% of the proceeds to six international charitable organizations: Helem (LGBT Center in Lebanon), Iranian Queer Organization (IRQO), Iraqi LGBT, and ASWAT (Gay Palestinian Women's group). Two additional organizations will be selected by our guests at the night of the event.

"Four years ago, Helem was founded in Beirut, the first LGBT center in an Arab country," said Bassam Kassab, coordinator of Helem San Francisco Chapter, "Helem and other LGBT groups in Iran, Iraq, and Palestine deserve every dime we collect at this fundraiser."

Arsham Parsi, Executive Director of IRQO adds, "IRQO is grateful to help more than 70 refugee cases in 2007 and most of them will resettle in Canada and USA...we will spend all donations and grants for Iranian queer refugees and their safe houses and health issues."

Bibi Chic will feature an unprecedented performance by a collective of local, queer performance artists presenting a mixture of traditional and experimental Go Go Belly Dancing and local DJs, mixing music that spans the entire Middle-Eastern, North African region.

Bibi Chic will also feature a headline traditional belly dancing performance by Amira! A long time icon at the not so long ago legendary Middle-Eastern events at El Rio, Amira's appearance at Bibi Chic marks her return to the her fans in the Queer Middle-Eastern scene.

Who:    Featured performers include Ms. Cherry Gallete, Go Go Dancing by local community members, belly dancer Amira, and mixmasters DJ Emancipacion, DJ Masood, and DJ Cheon
